Fine Artist - Mary Karavos, AOCAD

Mary creates spontaneous abstracts and representational images from a colorful palette of paper fragments. She hand-selects only the finest papers for her work. No paint is used in her art.

Her images evolve with each layer of paper on paper, piece by piece, into unique, textural works of art. The intuitive style surfaces from the memories of her travels and is an expression of her lifelong love of color, music and nature.

Mary graduated in Fine Arts from the Ontario College of Art and Design. In her final year, she was selected for a year of advanced studies in Florence, Italy. Florentine light and color captured and inspired her and she continued to live and work there for many years.

Combining her Florentine influences with her sense of the remarkable qualities of paper, Mary established her distinctive style of collage. She continues to exhibit her art in solo, group and juried exhibitions. Her specialty paper collages have attracted collectors and buyers in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia.
